Reset and Rise.

This has been a long time coming- sharing my personal thoughts alongside the SELF philosophies I've created over the last ten years. I realized that healing is a never-ending journey and what helps most is authenticity in every chapter that I land in. With that, I am showing up in my fullest capacity whether it be 100% or 15%- the key is showing up, not giving up, and remembering the core of why I am showing up.

In 2022, I journaled a reset formula and dated it "2022-2024". Interesting how I mapped it out for the two years ahead and here I am now in 2025 reflecting on what I wrote and eagerly sharing it with you all. My Self-confidence has grown immensely with less hesitation nor aim to be "perfect" because that doesn't exist. Ten years ago, I needed that as part of my core beliefs. I was so set on leaning into my healing that I often led myself astray trying to fit the perfect picture of what I felt was the "healed version" of me. Along the way exhaustion was the involuntary pause that I needed in order to face what did not serve the journey. Of course, there were tears and frustration, but there came to be a groundedness found in the unexpected, in the chaos, that became what I now refer to as the SELF formula.
I begin by advising the following tips that serve as a foundation to the SELF formula which in itself was created to be revised whenever needed. These tips remain the constant.
Remain composed- Observing life in all of its challenges often relies on the ability to remain composed, to have a secured space for emotions to safely exist for examination. With no safe space to go, emotions are prone to guiding the imagination down a rabbit hold of "what ifs" and "should've, could've, would've" scenarios that simply take up space where true solutions are needed.
Find grounding- By remaining composed and using tools to secure emotional safety, clarity is invited to the table. While composed you allow space to lay out your options to move forward. One thing about life is that it will surely present unknown areas as part of the journey- which trigger emotions such as anxiety, anxiousness, fear, and even self-doubt. The key to curving the negative flow of thought is to get grounded. What can be established as a grounding ritual that you can rely on when things are blurry? How can you establish clarity while the changes around you potentially take you in a whirlwind? (I'll share my personal choice later in this blog entry.)
Take Control- The steps before now have solidified not making an entire fool of yourself when things feel flighty and uncertain. Although natural to the growth journey, these feelings of uncertainty do not need to lead the way and potentially sabotage positive results. It's simple when you ask yourself, "What is in my control?" What happens when you take control? Well, take control of what exactly? Your thoughts, your routines, your mindset, your environment, and ultimately your daily choices. Personally, my first choice is always my yoga mat. I lay in child's pose for as long as I need with each deep inhale and exhale, melting into the tense spaces to release my stress and worry. My thoughts and emotions have a place to land. I am in control of ME, there.
By keeping these three steps in alignment with whatever path you take, you can be certain to learn a great deal about yourself and how to navigate the chapter you are in during life changes. So, lets get into the meat and potatoes of this post, The SELF Formula.
S – Self Awareness/Spiritual Discernment
Noticing patterns, triggers, and the narrative you’ve been living. Being present. Choosing to study the areas that you feel weak in while also building inner intuitive abilities serving preparation for when God says leap.
E – Explore your environment
Own the power of your intentions by examining your influences. Walking in alignment with devotions. Asking yourself key questions about your daily choices, "What does this place/person/thing serve in my goal? Is it pulling closer or pushing me farther away from my goal?"
L – Logical Diet/Decisions
Tending to your SELF (12wk yr) Shaping daily actions, rituals, and environments that support your future self. Do ONLY what serve your goal and write down HONEST notes about what works and what does not. Lead a life that mirrors the proof of the goal you have set for yourself.
F – Future Embodiment/Fitness
Be who your big goals require you to become, Today. What you embody now, will push you to stretch past comfort zones and consistently revisit your deep rooted WHY for the goal you've set. This is a part of the beautiful opportunity I've come across from simply choosing myself over the last 5-6 years. I made a promise to myself that my work would "mean something" and it took on a path of its own. My art, my creativity found its way into mental health and wellness spaces.
